Lovely people, big car park, plenty of seats in waiting area, cafe/food shop, toilets
My husband recently had total hip replacement under the NHS , he was treated as a private patient would be , The surgeon Mr Charles was absolutely amazing, caring, explanatory and a genuinely caring man , his whole team and all the amazing ward staff were fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble and every procedure and subsequent check up has been done professionally, with care and reassurance that, should any problems occur (they havent) (scar is neat , clean and healing perfectly They are a phone call or visit away . Cannot praise them highly enough and grateful thanks from us to each and every member
First time at this little hospital. I was treated very nicely. Clean, polite and cheerful staff.
Just had a full knee replacement here, 6th August 2026, everything was amazing, ward doctors and nurses, surgeons, anaesthetist and surgical team, xray, physio team, canteen staff, front of house, cleanliness was excellent, all these people went above and beyond to make my stay calm and comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay at Barlborough and the after care was also amazing. I would like to thank everyone involved and would thoroughly recommend this hospital. Well done everyone Regards One very happy patient.
I was referred here as a NHS patient for an appointment on 10/12/25 and things started off well, the surgeon appeared to know what he was talking about and I was referred to Kingsmill hospital for a MRI Arthrogram, which was scheduled for 02/02/26. I attended and the MRI was performed, I subsequently heard nothing more, so I contacted Barlborough hospital to ask about my results. There was no mention of any correspondence and they booked me in for a consultation with the same surgeon on 19/05/26. When I attended this appointment the surgeon couldn't get his computer to load the imaging, there was no report to view and he essentially said he didn't want to give me incorrect information and wouldn't give me a diagnosis- he was referring me to Doncaster for another consultation with a different surgeon. Fast forward to today, 17/08/26 (367 days from my initial referral), I attended the consultation at DRI, where they had no knowledge of the above and the only thing they had was the original referral letter from my physiotherapist. Of course none of the trusts communicate with each other so they were unable to view my MRI or report and this was another wasted afternoon off work. Upon leaving DRI I called Barlborough to enquire about my MRI results from 6 months ago and got through to Julie, who could not have been less helpful. I was told that I should have the results as my GP had been sent a letter months ago and that she would post a copy to me. Due to the excessive timescale I have been subjected to, I asked if she could perhaps email it to me or give me an idea of it's content, to which the answer was of course, no. I also enquired about getting my MRI scan attached to my patient profile, to which the answer was also no, with no explanation given. I understand there are processes to be followed, but I am not privy to these and the surliness and complete lack of empathy I was met with from someone employed at a hospital completely shocked me. On my way home, I decided to call in at my GP surgery to enquire about the letter that had supposedly been sent. The receptionist was wonderful and tried her best to help me, she had on look on file and even called a colleague regarding the supposed letter but they had no correspondence to speak of from Barlborough. In an effort to speed things along for me she kindly called Barlborough, but unfortunately she also got through to Julie, who once again was most unhelpful. She point blank refused to discuss anything about my case or even consider sending anything electronically. I now await the elusive letter, wondering if it is actually being posted or whether it will be withheld as punishment for daring to call. When I was initially referred to Barlborough I must say I was quite pleased and expected a higher level of care due to it being a private hospital, how wrong was I. I will be lodging a formal complaint and all I can say about the experience now is thank god I haven't paid for this!
